Temperance

Temperance: tarot card meaning

measure, balance, patience

Temperance is not dullness or a compromise — it is high craft: finding the exact proportion where others see only extremes.

Meaning

Temperance is the card of the exact dose: not "all or nothing" but just what's needed — of effort, of emotion, of closeness, of money. Everything moves at its own pace and will arrive in its own time: rushing now only spoils the proportion. And it is a card of protection: the traditional reading says "the guardian angel is near".

How it shows up

Matters may level out on their own: no leaps, but steady. Money may stabilize. The ability to say "no" to what breaks the balance may arrive: food that harms, a person who drains, one commitment too many. It can be a stretch of choosing yourself without any manifesto.

Love

It can be harmony through mutual adjustment: not remaking each other but blending in the right proportion. A gentle reconciliation after friction may arrive. The card may ask for patience with someone else's pace: each person ripens at their own speed. With a fire card beside it (Wands), lower the flame: this works better on a slow burn.

Work and money

It can be gradual, sustained progress — haste isn't valued here. Fine timing may decide: neither too early nor too late. In money: a balance of income and outgoings, a leveling after the dips.

Health

Fluid balance and metabolism. Healing moves forward: the body levels out on its own — help it with routine, not with heroics. Moderation at the table pays off more than heroic diets.

Reversed

Extremes: an “all or nothing” swing, too much effort or emotion. Impatience that breaks what was ripening. Imbalance — too much in one place, too little in another.

Yes or no

Yes, but not right away — the process moves at its correct pace.

Timing

Exactly on time — neither early nor late; Sagittarius season (late November — December).

Advice

Don't rush — everything arrives in its time and its proportion.

Symbolism

The angel pours water between two cups — and the water flows at an impossible angle: what seems to break physics turns out to be mastery of measure. One foot on the rock, one in the water — on the border of the elements, belonging to neither.
